David and Sue Semmens opened Spex Opticians in Middle Street Brixham in March 1978.

David is a Dispensing Optician and qualified Contact lens fitter, Sue runs the reception side of the business, and looks after stock control and ordering. Also helping out with reception duties and doubling up as book keeper is Pat Beaumont with over 20 years service, along with Marie Bedford another long serving member of staff. Sight testing is performed at both Brixham and Torquay practices by Peter Dilley, an Optometrist and another long serving member of the team, and also Magdy Nofal FRCS an Ophthalmologist working part time at Spex, also practicing at Torbay Hospital.

Spex Opticians opened its Torquay, Willows store in August 2007. After providing excellent, affordable eye care at its Brixham store for over 30 years.

Both practices are owned by Mr David Semmens a qualified Dispensing Optician and Contact Lens Fitter. David has worked in Optical/Eye care for over 35 years and has a wealth of knowledge and expertise. The Torquay Willows store has excellent access facilities, with free parking directly in front of the store. Disabled parking and easy wheelchair access via the sloping footpath to the store, which is all on one level. Here at Torquay we strive to provide the best eye care service possible and our attentive, experienced staff like to ensure that the utmost personal service is tailored to your individual needs.
