We offer a full and comprehensive range of eye tests to determine the health of our eyes, test your vision, and check for glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, colour blindness and more.
We test the sharpness of your vision, using eye-charts to test your distance vision, and hand held charts to test your near-sight.
The cover test involves covering one eye whilst using eye charts to identify how well your eyes work together, and can discover a lazy eye, and poor depth perception.
Using the coloured spot test, we can test for colour blindness. This usually involves trying to identify the number made up of coloured spots, in a background of different coloured spots.
Using different lenses, the Optometrist will fine tune your prescription and determine the level of hyperopia or myopia.
Using a biomicroscope and the slit lamp, a light is shone into your eye whilst you rest your chin to keep your eyes still. This enables the Optometrist to examine every part of your eye and evaluate your eye health, checking for things like cataracts and macular degeneration.
Whilst resting your chin on the machine, a small puff of air is blown at your eye, to test for eye pressure, or intra-ocular pressure.
Dilation allows the optometrist to examine the back of the eye - the blood vessels, retina and optical nerve. This can take 20-30 minutes, and afterwards you will have some eye sensitivity, possible disorientation and blurred eyesight.
Visual field tests examine your periphal vision, to detect the presence of blind spots.
